Location. The Sofitel Washington Lafayette Square Hotel is located in Washington, D.C., two blocks from the White House and one block from the Blue and Orange lines at McPherson metro station. This hotel, circa 1880, is one mile from Dupont Circle and the Washington Monument. The National Air & Space Museum and the Jefferson Memorial are within two miles of the hotel.

Hotel Features. The Sofitel Washington Lafayette Square Hotel's Le Bar serves complimentary coffee and tea every morning. The contemporary bar features purple walls and red accents among black and white chairs and purple sofas. The on site restaurant, Caf� 15, serves French cuisine in a contemporary setting and includes a terrace. Gold framed artwork hangs on the restaurant's walls. For meetings or events the hotel offers six meeting rooms, the largest of which accommodates 180 guests. The hotel offers wireless Internet access and fax and photocopy services. The hotel offers a fitness center that includes cardiovascular equipment with personal television screens, weight training equipment, free weights and extra towels.

Guestrooms. Guestrooms at the Sofitel Washington Lafayette Square Hotel are equipped with wireless Internet access and cable television. Minibars are provided and room service is available 24 hours a day. The bathrooms include telephones, separate showers and bathtubs, slippers, Roger & Gallet toiletries and makeup mirrors. Neutral d�cor in the guestrooms pops with red accents. Upholstered chairs and ottomans provide extra seating. In room safes are available complimentary and are laptop compatible.

Expert Tip. The Octagon House is three blocks from hotel. The Federal period mansion and museum, at the corner of New York Avenue and 18th Street, was built in 1801 by a friend of George Washington and is said to be haunted. The round Treaty Room in the Octagon House is where James Madison signed the Treaty of Ghent, ending the War of 1812.
