Location. Opened in 1899, the Mount Nelson hotel is a colonial Cape Town institution and set at the foot of Table Mountain in nine acres of landscaped gardens. Cape Town International Airport is 12 miles away.
Hotel Features. The Isandla spa is located in the pink cottages next to the swimming pool and has four treatment rooms using Environ and Dermalogica products. Sessions include facials, manicures, hot stone massage and body wraps. The hotel's young guests are catered for with a welcome letter filled with ideas for fun things to do, child size bathrobes and slippers, complimentary hot milk and cookies for babies. Cots and other play items are also available on request. A business centre is located on the ground floor in close proximity to all conference rooms where guests can make use of a office equipment and wireless Internet. Staff can assist with various secretarial needs.
The Mount Helson Hotel has a trio of restaurants: Cape Colony is open for dinner and offers a mix of modern European dishes and traditional Cape cuisine. Sample dishes can include Ostrich Fillet with Springbok and Pancetta Satay. Vegetarian options and children's menus are available, as well as an extensive wine list consisting of the fine Cape wines. Live entertainment featuring a harpist or pianist each night creates a soothing ambience in the curved dining room, with its dramatic flower arrangements, floor to ceiling drapes and round tables. The informal and alfresco Oasis Restaurant faces the swimming pool and lush lawns, and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Planet is one of Cape Town's hottest nightspots. The hotel's chic champagne and cocktail bar is open until late and also offers light snacks including caviar. D�cor features low armchairs upholstered in metallic leather, a twinkling night sky ceiling, and large gilt mirrors.

Driving directions. From the airport, take the N2 towards Cape Town. After the Liesbeek Parkway offramp, get into the lane second from the right, following the signs to the city. Pass under two bridges and at the third bridge, follow the road to the right and the N2 will then merge with the M3 to form five lanes of traffic. Move into one of the two left lanes as you proceed along De Waal Drive. Take the offramp left into Mill Street (which then changes its name to Orange Street), passing through two sets of traffic lights. Before the pedestrian traffic lights on the left hand side lie the landmark Prince of Wales Pillars, signifying the entrance to the Mount Nelson Hotel.
